No More Vapor Lock: Keeping Fuel Liquid in a Hot Vintage Engine Bay

Vapor lock is fuel boiling before it reaches the carburetor: the engine stumbles in traffic, then won't restart hot. Modern fuel boils sooner than the gasoline these engines were designed for. The fix is to keep heat away from every place fuel sits or flows, from the pump on the block to the line across the manifold to the carburetor bowls. Start with the cheapest piece that addresses your car's hottest spot.

Affiliate disclosure

This site earns commission on qualifying purchases made through the merchant links it carries. A commission never changes the price you pay.

What we are paid does not decide what we recommend or how we rank it. Merchant links are added to picks the Site has already made, and a Product with no commercial relationship is ranked on the same terms as one that has one.

Prices and availability are set by the merchant and change frequently. We show a price only while our reading of it is still current by that merchant's own policy, and show a link to the merchant instead of a number whenever it is not.
